The two boiler types are significantly different, and only one of the two types should typically be specified if all new boilers in a given project are similar. 4.Flex tube boilers
Read MorePressure gauges and vacuum gauges allow users to monitor the pressure of air and noncorrosive fluids in pumps, filters, compressors, and regulators. Boiler gauges measure both the temperature and water pressure in boilers. Differential pressure gauges (analog and digital) measure and control pressure drops across filters, strainers, separators

I think it's an energy waster because it holds about 10 gallons of water and every time the boiler needs water, this thing pumps in a gallon or so of cold water.

[For example; if a 100 psi rated boiler comes equipped with a 0–200 psi gauge, and the boiler is equipped with a 30 psi safety relief valve then the pressure gauge must be changed to one with a dial range of at least one
Read MoreThe wet returns of the boiler may have become plugged up slowing the return of the water, or as Jaimie says, the overly high pressure may be forcing water out of the boiler, stacking it up into the returns. Does the gauge show what the pressure is while steaming? Is there a testable Low water cut off, (LWCO) on the boiler, or an electronic type.

The scale goes from 30 inches vacuum to 30 pounds pressure. If I set the aquastat for the tankless heater to 120F (which is where it usually is at to save $$), the gauge reads at 9 inches of vacuum.

I did notice the needle on my pressure/temperature gauge was out of wack, way below the pressure it should have. When I filled the boiler the needle did move about a 1/4 inch but stopped, it should be reading around 10-12 lbs like it
